There's a Party in my City came to Kingsbury Hall. Abby And I went because she watches Yo Gabba Gabba everynight before bedtime...I must say, I really don't mind this kid show. It's actually pretty cool and they have awesome guests on it.

Before the show, Abby and I got our picture taken. They gave me a card w/ the redemption number on in and told me at intermission they were going to announce a number and that number would win VIP passes backstage to meet all of the cast! Well, guess whose number they called? MINE!!!!!!

I am convinced Abby knew that with turning 2 she was required to be terrible. I swear, July 10th, the day before her b-day (which was almost her b-day, but instead she was born at 12:01 am on July 11th) she melted down pretty much all day. That was the worst I have ever seen her! Granted, we were coming back from MT that day and I think she just wanted to be home, but man, it was melt down after melt down! She was a complete angel on the way up there!
Anyhow, we had a birthday BBQ for her at our house. Here are some of the highlights!

Abby got bit on the playground. No, not by a bug...by a kid that was at least a year older than her. Poor thing was really traumatized!

Yes, the little girl's mom was mortified her daughter would do that and apologized up and down. I didn't quite see what exactly went down, but it is possible Abby could have hit her in the first place...she's been know to do that.

On a better note...someone got a haircut and looks absolutely adorable! She was getting a bit shaggy!

So, Jess is building a climbing wall in our garage.

He took the panels from another climbing wall that was in his friends barn. Yes, the grafitti is ghetto to me, but it is nostalgic to him since he used to climb in that barn all the time. He thinks it is awesome, so...so be it!

A 3 car garage was a must for Jess when we were doing the whole house hunt for this purpose. There will be more walls coming off the side of the main part. I was a little hesitant about all this at first, but what the heck...maybe I will get strong from it!

One thing I am not psyched about is all the banging and pounding way past Abby's bedtime. Abby actually asked me if she could go night night the other night, so I had to put a stop to the drilling!

I will post more when it is completely finished!

Jess and I saw Arcade Fire last night. Definitely in my top 5 favorite concerts of all time.

Although, I swear I am a magnet for obnoxious people at concerts. Every show I go to there is some ass hat standing right next to me doing something that makes me want to punch them. Yes, I have anxiety issues.

So the other day we were at Denny's in Lehi for breakfast. Abby is just sitting there sipping her OJ and starts saying "Yee haw. Yee haw." really loud. I know she says that when she sees Woody from Toy Story, so I looked around and saw 2 men with cowboy hats. It is really amazing what she is starting to pick up on these days.

So, I was seriously convinced I had a monster in my new washer and it was eating Abby's socks. Two completely different socks disappeared about a month ago. They happened to magically reappear yesterday! And then in that same load one sock from another pair disappeared! I was completely confused...

So, I told my mom about it. She laughed and said "Are they getting caught inbetween the washer and the door?" Because apparently front loaders have this "hole" there where you have to move this rubber piece to see down in it. Sure enough, there was a whole slew of Abby's little socks stuck in the "hole".

Too bad...I kinda liked the idea of a little monster!

I took Abby for her 1st Happy Meal yesterday thinking this was going to be a bonding experience like on the commercials. I got her chicken nuggets, fries, and an apple juice. She chugged the apple juice, but wanted nothing to do with the meal! She didn't even want to play with the fairy toy!! Are you kidding me? What kid doesn't like McDonalds fries!?!?!

Guess who ended up eating her whole meal...yup, me.

So, I get her home and decide she needs to eat something for dinner. I made her steamed broccoli and some left over lasagna. She ate every single bite of broccoli (didn't touch the lasagna, of course. She chucked her whole plate off the table the night before.)

My kid eats broccoli, asparagus, zucchini, and salad, but really doesn't like fries or chocolate. Unbelieveable.

I guess that is good, right?

Wow, I guess I do get visitors to my blog! Thanks for your comments! I have a lot of catching up to do! Watch Abby grow right before your eyes....

We went to Florida last May for a wedding. It was Abby's 1st time on a plane and on the beach. I was so excited, but the excitement faded when she started vomitting the 1st night we got there. It was also the 1st time she had a tummy bug...lots of 1sts here! Then Jess ended up getting it and I got a milder form of it, so luckily I was able to function as a bridesmaid. Honestly, it was the worst trip ever...but the wedding was absolutely gorgoeus.

I just love that scrunchy lil' face!

We had Abby's 1st b-day party at her grandparents house. She slept through most of it and I actually had to wake her up for cake and presents before the guests left!

We went to Bear Lake. Abby HATED this life jacket!!

Then we went on a bike ride and she fell asleep in this really uncomfortable position!

We took a chance and drove our natural gas car to CA. It was awesomely cheap! Since stations are far and few between, it was kinda sketchy in some stretches, but totally worth the savings in gas!!

Well, remember how I posted, rather complained, about Abby not sleeping through the night? Now I am torn and starting to think her waking up once a night isn't so bad....

She had her 4 month appointment last Friday and the doc said she can definitely go 8 or more hours now without having to eat in the middle of the night. I just have to get her on that schedule and let her fuss herself back to sleep for awhile (which has not sounded appealing either). So, I started thinking...if I put her to bed at say 10 and she sleeps 8 hours, she will sleep until 6 or so...that is WAY too early to be getting up for the day, especially for Jess who doesn't get to sleep until 2 am on weeknights anyway!

Now, when I feed her once in the middle of the night, yes I may have to get up, but only for a half hour and she is right back to sleep. And then she sleeps until 8-10 am!

Hmmm, what to do?

Anyhow, Abby had her 4 month appointment. Here are her stats:

Height: 24 1/4 in. 49%.
Weight: 13.2 lbs. 39%.

do infants start sleeping through the night? And DO NOT comment with "Oh, my lil' one has slept 11 hours a night since I brought them home"! Ok, you can, but I will hate you.

I try to put Abby to bed as late as possible (10-11ish) right after I feed her, so I can get a longer stretch of sleep in a row. She will wake up anywhere between 3 and 7 am for a feeding. For a while she was sleeping until 5-7 am and now we are on the other end where she is waking up more towards 3 and 4 am. This is KILLING me on days I have to go to work. I am seriously a walking zombie on auto pilot. I am assuming it is a growth spurt.

I know all kids are different, but I am dying here! I would be interested to know when your children started sleeping through the night and what you think may have helped them to do so. Keep in mind I am breastfeeding...I know it seems formula fed kids are more full at bedtime and tend to sleep through the night.

I have also tried the rice cereal thing...it is a myth.

And I just put a humidifier in her room hoping the white noise may keep her asleep. Although, if she is anything like her mama she will get too attached and not be able to sleep without it. Jess hates I can't sleep without a fan.

Nothin' sweeter than a sleeping baby...especially one that sleeps through the dang night!!!

So, I don't know if I have mentioned this, but Jess now has a full time job as an ultrasound tech. He is not finished with school until December, but a position opened up and they offered it to him. Could not have come at a better time!

(This is a picture of Abby that Jess took at 32 weeks. I thought it was fitting for my post!)

This was my first week back to work as well. I managed to leave the house, Monday, with only minimal tears.
(it is so hard to leave this, especially when she is smiling and cooing at you before you walk out the door!)

Anyhow, I was skeptical, but so far I am really liking the part time thing! I just work 24 hours a week and I know Abby is in good hands because Jess has her all day (he works a night shift). It seems to be a really good balance for me, because I get to go to work and have some alone time, talk with friends, and have an identity. But I also get my time with Abby and Jess on my days off. I have to admit though, getting up early is so not fun, especially when I am still getting up once a night to feed Abby!

These were Jess's varicose veins, but last Thursday he had them ripped out.

He was not put out, just given valium to take the edge off. He did really well through the procedure considering they cut him 37 times. Sometimes Jess has the tendency to pass out during these types of things...like he did last time they did a procedure similar to this on his leg. This time he waited until I was driving him home to pass out...YAY!

When I picked him up he was fine and wanted to have lunch. So we did, and then on the way home he said he was not feeling well and to pull over. As he was trying to open the car door he passed out. Well, what else do you do when you can't wake your husband up? You call 911. He finally came to and laid on the lawn next to the car (we are pulled over on a 6 lane highway, University Ave. for those who know Orem). The paramedics came and checked him out and said he just had really low blood pressure and then released him.

He is okay now. This is about a once a year occurrence, but this time it freaked me out because he had just had surgery and was kinda drugged up. Better safe then sorry, right?

I am so blessed to have such a good baby! I just absolutely adore this little girl. She smiles and coos like crazy and really only cries when she needs something.

She went to the doctor a few weeks ago for her 2 month check up. She is now 10 lbs and 23 inches long. That makes her 47% in weight and 75% in height.

And not to mention, she is now sleeping 5-7 hour stretches in the night! I was hoping that would get better before I went back to work!

Since we are now with child, we brought the tent trailer. It was super comfy, but kind of a pain in the butt to get together! This had to be our camp site this year, since the normal one is no longer open to campers :(. Usually we are a lot closer to Castleton Tower.

We are in the process of selling Jess's truck to his little brother...sniff sniff {wipe away a tear}.

Jess had this truck when we first met. Whenever we went camping he would make a nice cushy bed in the back under the covered shell and call it "the Princess Palace" just for me (he was used to just sleeping in the dirt and I refused to do that).

I got some pics of Abby done. She is 2 1/2 weeks old here. She looks super long!!

They say newborn pics are best when they are 5-7 days old, but she was in the NICU for the 1st week and then I just did not have time last week to even think about pictures! But I do see why it is best...they sleep a lot and it is easier to pose them! This is a rare moment where we were able to catch her barely asleep. Abby was born at 12:04 am on July 11th. She weighed in at 7 lbs. 8 oz. and was 21 in.

I started having contractions while I was getting ready for work on Friday, July 10th. Poor Jess took ultrasound call that night so he had to run to the hospital at 2 am and then again at 5 am to scan patients. I felt so bad and did not want to wake him up as I knew he had only been asleep for an hour. But there came a point where they were 2 minutes apart and hurt like HELL! So it was off to the hospital. The nurse apparently felt really bad for me and begged the Dr. to admit me so I could have an epidural ASAP. Thank GOD for epidurals!!!!!!! I seriously have NO idea how women do this natural...more power to you women! Here is me post epidural and looking really puffy!

So, I was admitted around 10 am and feeling pretty good the rest of the day. Around 8:30 pm they said it was finally time to start pushing. Here is where things pretty much started to suck. I pushed for 3 hours every 2-5 minutes. I was full on falling asleep between contractions I was so exhausted. The Dr. came in at 11:30 pm and said he was going to try forceps and if that did not work then I was to have a c-section. I pushed with all my strength because I was NOT going to have a c-section. Well, I lost.

At this point I was rushed out of the room to the operating room. It was like a movie... where you are staring at the ceiling watching the lights go by as they wheel you down the hall and then in the operating room there were people were rushing all around you. It was so surreal. Then the Dr. pinched me and asked if I could feel that. I said YES! So, the next thing I know, there is a mask over me and I am OUT. Apparently, there was no time for an epidural to kick in because the babies heart rate was falling.

I am really glad they put me out, because Jess said the baby came out crying, but then went limp and turned blue. I did not need to see that. Long story short, Abby swallowed meconium (her own poop), had respiratory problems, had to be revived, and have that poop pumped out asap.

I finally came out of surgery around 1:30 am. I don't remember much, but I know I was shaking violently for about an hour. And I remember being really nervous to take pain medication because I knew I had not eaten for a very long time and did not want to get sick. I did not even get to see Abby that night because I was so out of it.I finally got to see Abby around 10 am the next morning. She was on breathing machines. But this little girl is such a fighter and was off the machine by later that evening. She was completely off oxygen by Sunday.

She got a little jaundice and had to be put under some lights and also got an infection and had to have an IV of antibiotic for 7 days. So I was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday and she has to stay until Saturday (which is tomorrow YAY!!!)

FINALLY! The sushi I had been craving for 9 months!!! I seriously did not want to leave the hospital. I was waited on hand and foot, pumped full of drugs, and best of all close to Abby.

So, since I was discharged from the hospital on Wednesday and Abby had to stay until Saturday, Jess and I have been running back and forth to the hospital every 2-3 hours to feed her. We have been doing this for 3 days. Absolutely exhausting. I cannot complain...there are women there whose babies are premature and do this for months. This is a pic of Abby's little NCIU area.

I just have to say all the nurses who took care of me and Abby at American Fork hospital are absolutely amazing. And a HUGE thank you to all my friends and family. I truly love all of you!

I am a tad bit late, but my mom turned the big 6-0 on July 3rd. We celebrated up in Park City at Stein Erikson Lodge for Sunday brunch.

My mom was born in 1949, I was born in 1979, and Abby will be born in 2009. We are all 30 years apart. I think it is perfect timing!

My bestest friend, Eileen, and I went shopping for some last minute baby items. We made it a girls day with pedicures ($30 toes? I can't believe that is what it costs these days. If I could bend over and do my own for free I would!), lunch at Lonestar Taqueria, and a shopping spree at Babies R Us and Target! I have never just gone through a store and thrown everything and anything a cart before...it was fun!!

The babies room is not finished, I still need to hang pictures and do a few last minute things, so I will post more on that later. This is a sneak peek though! I decided to go neutral with the bedding.
I seriously do not even know what I would do without Eileen. She helped me so much. If I get overwhelmed I tend to shut down and not want to do a thing. She took charge and helped me clean and organize the room.

And remember that chair I was going to reupholseter? I took it to a lil' shop in Pleasant Grove to have done. It was just one little guy running his own lil' shop just like my dad, so I decided to give him the business. He did a great job. I know I would have screwed it up on my own. The thing is, this chair matches nothing in the nursery...oh well, I liked the fabric!!

And check out these babies! UGH!!! This is the result of shopping all day on a hot day! It seriously disgusts me, but what can ya do, right? Pregnancy is a CRAZY thing! At least the $30 toes look nice with these lovely cankles!!

Our friends Robbie and Christine got married last week and decided to have a big ol' bash in the desert. It was a whirlwind trip, but surprisingly relaxing with awesome summer temps! We stayed at a Marriott the 1st night and camped the 2nd night. Believe it or not, I actually slept better in the back of my truck than I did at the Marriott (except for all the times I had to get up to pee). Congrats Robbie & Christine!

As some of you may know, I love me some dirt bike action! I won some tickets to Supercross on Saturday, so Jess, Casey, Dan and I braved the cold and headed to Rice Eccles Stadium. Luckily, the rain cleared, but it made for some sloppy track conditions!

As you can see, the tickets you win off the radio are not usually the best seats in the house. It was the nose bleed section for us but I did not mind! We were right above the first corner, so we got to see the pileups and who got the holeshot pretty well.

Nothing gets me more excited than the start gate! Even though I did not race that much and by no means was I any good at it, I just remember that nervous/excited feeling you get when you have that throttle revved up, the gate drops, and you are off!

I am sad to say I did not even get to see the finish. I saw the first 10 laps of the main event, which was super competitive, where James Stewart and Chad Reed battled it out, but I am sad to say we left. We were cold, hungry, tired, and wanted to beat traffic...yes, I am officially an old party pooper.

I am extremely grateful to the person who gave it to me, but you gotta admit, the pads are butt ugly! I have a chair on my registery, but it is $379...as pretty and comfy as it is, that price tag is just not feasible for any budget. Plus, think of all the diapers I can buy with that money!

So, I am definitely not a seamstress and really have no idea how to go about this. I know I will screw it up. I am going to do the ottoman by myself, because all it includes are a few staples, but if anyone here knows how to do these cushions...I WILL PAY YOU!

I know, it will all be worth it in the end :).

It happened...I turned 30. Yes, it is sad, but I have heard 30 is the new 20, so bring it on (I guess).
I had a great "b-day week". Yes, week. I swear only women understand this concept of the b-day week. It starts when that first friend wants to take you to lunch. I just don't think guys take their guy friends to lunch, so they don't get a b-day week.

On my actual b-day Jess bought me flowers and we went to dinner w/ my parents.

A few days later, my best friend Eileen, coordinated a dinner for me at the Red Iguana. Surprisingly, a lot of people showed up! It was fabulous!

Then most of us headed over to the Urban Lounge for some live Samba music.

I guess this pose is no longer sexy when you are 6 months prego!

I wish I had more pictures to post, but for some reason I am getting horribly lazy at taking them these days!

I think the last time I did the splits was in ballet when I was probably 5 years old. I was much smaller and much, much more flexible back then! Well, I did them again last night...completely involuntarily!

Yes, while getting into my car, my shoe slipped on some flat piece of plasitc and sent my front foot flying out in front of me. I swear, I am surprised my pants did not rip. I am laughing now while writing this, but it was definitely NOT funny then!

I was already completely pissed off that I had gone WAY out of my way to 2 natural gas stations and the pumps were down at both. I finally got gas at a pump that said it was broken (yes I filled up anyway because I was NOT going any further) and got a measly 2 gallons (I guess you have to know how this natural gas thing works...Veronica can sympathize).

So I pick myself up, screaming obscenities, get in my car and just start sobbing. I know, so pathetic, but I needed it.

I am sooo sore! I think I completely streched out my groin muscles. It really does not help that I am 20 lbs. heavier w/ child in womb. I guess it could be worse...I could have fallen wrong and hurt the baby or could have shattered my ankle like our poor cousin, Chamaine, did while she was 9 months prego!

For now, if you see me waddling, you know why!

Yes folks, I had a week of reliving my youth in the 90's! It was fabulous and it was all thanks to Rosie for hooking me up! It all started with the MC Hammer/Vanilla Ice concert:

So after 20 weeks of pregnancy (I am actualy 22 weeks here) I decided to give in to the maternity pants. I went to work one day about 2 weeks ago in my own pants with just the top button undone. I was thrilled with myself, until about 4 hours of sitting down when I found myself bloating in my chair with everything undone! I eventually went to my car and got my stretchy gym shorts because I could not handle it anymore. Then I knew it was time...maternity pants came out. Thanks Casey for letting me borrow them!

Here we (Eileen, Seryna, Angie, Janell, and Trevor)are at the Christmas sing-a-long at the Energy Solutions Arena. I have kind of made it a tradition to go along with the Rojas family.

Here is the ginger bread house we made at Jess's parents. I got off work late and by the time I got there Jess has already taken over the whole operation. Check out "rasta man's" anatomy.

Here is the only picture I took Christmas day. This is Jess's lil' brother, Joel, playing w/ his Christmas toys.

We had a good Christmas, even though Jess had to work Christmas Day. Just did the traditional stuff...my parents house on Christmas Eve, I went to Jess's parents house Christmas morning. Then we go to Little America for dinner on Christmas night w/ my parents. I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas as well!

it rears its ugly head again...I am talking about morning sickness. As some of you may know, one of the only reasons I was afraid to get pregnant was because I HATE to throw up (well and the fact I have to pop something the size of a watermelon out of my woo hoo). It is THE WORST thing if the world to me! My mom was sick pretty much all 9 months and everyone kept telling me you are most likely going to take after your mom.

Well, I was proud to say I surpressed every urge I have had to throw up for the last 8 weeks...until this morning. Not only have I broken my goal to not throw up during pregnancy, I have broken my 2 year streak. It usually comes on when my stomach is completely empty, I am in a hot bathroom after a shower, or I have tried to brush my teeth without eating something. I am usually able to deep breathe it out, splash cold water on my face, shove some food down my throat, or roll all the windows down on the freeway in 20 degree weather...but not this time. Jess has been anxiously awaiting the moment I actually threw up and he was grinning ear to ear when I made a run for it.

Okay, so it wasn't so bad because my stomach was empty, but I still HATE it! Anyhow, I have to say I have been damn lucky with this morning sickness thing. My stomach never feels quite right, but I am not near as sick as I know I could be. All in all I got away lucky...so far. I am nearing the 2nd trimester, so we shall see how it goes. I am however, gaining energy slowly, but surely!

For those of you who cannot see the disturbing floating fetus ticker, I am a little over 10 weeks!

Last night was the 10th annual Smokey Mountain Christmas party, but only my 5th. Our good friend Mike O'Connor started this lovely tradition, but moved to Austria 3 years ago, so Eileen continued his tradition here in the US. Now Mike used to really get into this, such as a graded pre and post movie quiz and song books to sing a long. If people talked or did not sing along he was hurt!

Eileen has made the environment a bit more relaxed. Mike did email us a quiz from Austria that we all took together before and after the movie, and yes, we did still sing along with the movie! There was even a guest appearance from:

DOLLY HERSELF!!

It is also tradition that new comers dress as Dolly.

If you have not seen this made-for-tv movie, I highly recommend it...for a good laugh!

1. Egg nog or hot chocolate? Hot chocolate...Ican't stand egg nog even with a little something added to it to make it fun!

3. Colored lights on a tree/house or white? I always thought just white lights were really classy, but my tree actually has red and green colored lights. My mom bought it for me, so I am not complaining!

6. What is my favorite holiday dish? My mom's homemade pierogi's (Slavic dumpling stuffed with potatoes and cheese). She doesn't actually home make them anymore because it was an all day affair, but she does buy the frozen ones at the store and doctors them up to taste just as good!

7. Favorite holiday memory as a child? baking Christmas cookies with my mom and decorating the house while listening to the Carpenters Christmas album.

8. When and how did I learn the truth about Santa? I actually don't remember, but I know I was way too old to still be believing!

9. Do we open a Christmas gift on Christmas Eve? When I grew up we opened one from an extended family member. Now, since we have to divide our time between my parents and Jess's parents we do my parents house on Christmas Eve and open all presents then.

10. How do I decorate our tree? I actually have a memory tree. Most of the ornaments on it are from somewhere we have traveled or from Jess's childhood.

11. Can I ice skate? Um, YEAH! I took lessons when I was a kid!

12. Can I remember my favorite gift? My Munchi chi!

13. What is the most important thing about he holidays for me? Family and giving to less fortunate.

14. What is my favorite holiday dessert? Almond Rocca!

15. What is my favorite holiday tradition? Going to Little America for dinner on Christmas night.

On Saturday, Trevor had a b-day party for Eileen. We went to good ol' Classic skating in Sandy for Flashback night! Thanks to Danell, we all had excellent flashback gear to dress up in! Jess got stuck in this dress. He was yelling at me to help him, but I was too busy laughing and taking pictures! He decided this one worked better. Nice crotch grab, huh?

Tarek and Oliver wanted to help Eileen blow out her candles. I made that cake and it was an absolute disaster...this is why I usually just go to Costco.

All I can say is Lisa and I could not wipe the smiles off our faces the entire time! It was such a fun show! They still have the exact same moves and look pretty damn good for being in their late 30's/early 40's!

We both agreed we had more fun this show than we did 18 years ago. All we could remember about the last show was how pissed off we were that we were in the nose bleed section! It was funny to see the wide range of people at the show. There were 10 year olds all the way up to 60 year olds. But it was mostly women our age of course! Out of all the concerts I have been to, this one had to be the loudest, only because there were so many screaming women! It was insane! Anyhow, they can still completely pull it off and I think that was $22 well spent!

What did I do you ask? I bought NKOTB tickets today. (If you didn't grow up in the 90's and are scratching your head at my abbreviation it means New Kids on the Block !). My best friend since we were 5, Lisa, and I picked up some tickets at the E Center today (to skip all of Ticketmaster's ridiculous service charges. Highly recommended to do this as Ticketmaster wanted over $10 for their service charge and it was only $2 at the E Center). Anyhow, they released cheap seats for $20, so we figured what the hell. Yes, we are in the back of the arena, just like we were 18 years ago at their show in Provo, but hey, the only way I was going was if the seats were cheap.

I was searching for reviews on the show and found nothing but good comments. This article especially made me feel better about my decision:

Jess and I went up to visit our friends, the Anzers, on Halloween evening. This is Loran, Anthony, Brenna, and Chelsea.

cornhole maze (as jess would put it)

I won some tickets to the David Archuletta corn maze at Thanksgiving Point from the tv show Good Things Utah. I actually had to go live on air and answer a trivia question to get these...the things I do for free stuff! Anyhow, here are some pics from our adventure:This corn maze has seen better days. A lot of stalks were torn down for people to make their own paths. We were done with it after about 5 minutes.Who knows what Jess is doing.Well, damnit. Anyone would agree alcohol is much needed to make this thing fun. I love that drinking alcohol makes you look like the old "crazy" guy on this sign. So they had this huge "jumping pillow" that was probably supposed to be just for kids, but we over took it by the end of the night. Jess came on jumping with no regard for the children around him and started bouncing poor little kids left and right. This lady started screaming at us that her children are there and to stop jumping. We didn't.
